Gone WALX about – what the groups have been up to

Winter has not been kind weather wise but that does not seem to have put too much of a damper on the WALX groups out there. As you will see from the images at the bottom of this post, nothing stops WALXers!

Some escaped to the mountains for a snowshoe trip which made them very thankful for the months of training with their Instructor – Emma from WALX Leamington and Warwick had been pushing them quite hard with hill work and drills during the Autumn months. They were rewarded with an awesome trek to a remote mountain refuge where they stayed the night before a lovely walk back down to their Auberge.

If you fancy a trip with other WALXers where you will feel looked after and supported – check out this LINK TO WALX TRIPS

Meanwhile, WALXers from all over the UK have joined Denise from WALX Coast and Country in Sussex on her annual squat challenge. This simple but tough challenge involves adding 10 more squats a day (or you can opt for less)

They are already past the 100 a day point and those taking part all over the UK are noticing just how powerful this exercise is. It builds leg strength, helps with weight loss and keeps you mobile. Total body walking fitness sessions help you to move as nature intended so if you don’t fancy lonesome squats, join a session near you ( you will be glad you did)

One thing that always makes a walk worthwhile is what nature provides us to see, smell and hear. Whatever the weather!

This year the arrival of the snowdrops has been more welcome than ever with groups seeking the best spots to enjoy these little winter wonders.

Ashley from WALX Wessex captured this carpet of snowdrops in the local woods with her group and others all felt that their snowdrop special walks have sprinkled a bit of joy this year. Now they are busy planning the bluebell and dawn chorus walks to help put a spring in everyone’s step. Of course a visit to a local cafe is a huge part of winter walking although not so sure about the ice creams which tempted the WALX Preston crew ( see below!)

The WALX Tutors have been really busy with Instructor training courses all over the UK including a bespoke course for the Canal and River Trust at their amazing Canal and Waterways museum site in Gloucester.

Attendees were from several locations in the South West so rest assured you will soon be able to try Total Body walking at a lovely canal site or marina near you!

Other new Instructors we have trained so far this year are from Portsmouth, Jaywick, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Sussex and Dorset so watch this space for their classes this spring – Get in touch with us now to get an invite when they launch. E mail support@walx.co.uk

We still have places on our next two Instructor training courses in York and Surrey so get in touch and start your new life as an inspirational WALX Instructor

As promised…… a quick round up of our hardy walkers braving what winter has thrown at them and still smiling!
