Whilst the WALX HQ have been out and about training new Total Body walking Instructors in York and Watford, our groups around the UK have been dodging the showers and making the most of their Summer Walks.
The WALX Warwick and Leamington group led a workshop for FLAT FRIENDS a breast cancer recovery group who were on a retreat in Shakespeare Country. By all accounts it was a fun session at a lovely venue and leads in nicely with the AFTERNOON Tea sessions many groups will be hosting to raise funds for BREAST CANCER now in August.
WALX now has a Breast Cancer Ambassador called Sam Armstrong who is willing to provide support and advice to anyone going through rehabilitation and treatment.
Meanwhile in Harrow this brilliant group completed their six week WALX lifestyle plan with Instructor Sue Collen – they have experienced a range of total body walking sessions designed to help them improve, strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness and range of movement. Packaged with some great lifestyle resources and a lot of fun, they all agreed it was worthwhile and were delighted to be given their own pair of unique WALX poles at the end of the course
In Dorset John Challis, a legendary Instructor who leads for the WALX Dorset group celebrated his 85th Birthday in style with a walk and delicious tea party – his second as he also attended their Summer Picnic where 40 walkers joined together with the team of Instructors and leaders to enjoy walks for all levels followed by a feast!
Retired Orthopaedic surgeon John, is a real advocate for pole walking and still joins his wife Sally who delivers WALKING WELL sessions and local walks for all levels in Purbeck. Both have new hips and knees but don’t let them stop them!
Caroline Thompson from the Saddleworth Nordic walking group has been leading walks and Power of poles tuition sessions for 10 years now and her group decided to mark the occasion with a lovely handmade banner.
They also threw a lovely party to thank her for effort she puts in to sessions that range from tough walks on the moors to wellness sessions for all levels. 16 of the group trained for the Grasmere Gallop event earlier this year and agree that she offers a great mix of fitness and fun!
Most groups enjoy taking a break from their poles and exercise routines from time to time. This group in West Sussex, joined a local expert for a HISTORY WALK in Arundel but their leader Denise tells us they will be back out walking the hills and beaches in no time as they know how much better they feel when they have joined Denise and the leaders for something a bit more energetic!
Tell us what YOUR group has been up time and help us inspire others to get out with like minded people to enjoy exercise, rehabilitation, great company and often cake too!
