WALX about spring 24

Spring is a welcome sight for many groups who have been wading through more mud than usual this Winter but that has not stopped them getting out as you can see from the round up below. Mind you, we think it’s the snack stops that keep them going!!

We also have several new WALX clubs set to spring into action in the coming weeks so read on to find out if they will be coming to a town near you…

Nordic Walking Watford teamed up with WALX Ridgeway for a joint adventure which incorporated a visit to a welcoming cycle shop cafe in the stunning Chiltern hills (pic left). Our groups love supporting independent businesses – especially those not averse to walking boots! Meanwhile Norfolk Nordic Walking managed to sit outside for their post walk drink!

Meanwhile in Dorset, the remote section of the South West path they tackled was a tad short of cafes so they chose a pit stop with a view instead. There’s nothing like a hot drink and packed lunch mid walk and glad it was not raining they sheltered from the wind by one of the many features along the route !

Although, a pub lunch is always high up on the priorities list for groups at this time of year and this group from Brockenhurst NW in the New Forest chose a lovely inn to finish their walk in. We are told it’s best to make it at the end of a walk as a log fire can make it hard to get going again if the stop is en route!

WALX Derwent and Dales chose a cosy cafe in Belper for their stop – smiles and lattes all round and we reckon they are all waiting for the scones, tea cakes or victoria sponges to be brought over! Whilst in Manchester the Parks and Pathways chaps had to resort to toast when their paths were so frozen over!

Way up in the Highlands the WALX Easter Ross group seem too hardy to take a pit stop – must be the Porridge they had before stepping out! As for WALX Coast and Country they were probably too busy squatting as part of the challenge set up by their leader Denise or they could not sit down! Every day in February they added another 5 or 10 squats and all reported they feel stronger and more mobile after building up this vital exercise.

Watch out for new groups about to launch in the following  locations and you too could be walking, eating, drinking and squatting your way through 2024

ANDOVER & TEST VALLEY, EDINBURGH, HASTINGS, OBAN, BARROW in FURNESS and FULHAM.

Get in touch if you are in any of these locations and want to join them for their Discovery sessions or a lovely walk.
