Passes are now available for the WALX Festival 2025 in September – your chance to join us in our heartland of Dorset to experience the power of walking with others for fun, fitness and health.

Experienced WALX leaders will showcase the beauty of Dorset and the famous Jurassic coast with routes to suit all abilities from short and flat to the more arduous clifftop trails of the South West coast path.

Discover the passion and local knowledge of the team which is replicated across the UK and is the essence of WALX. Walks include geology, history, cider farms and the RSPB reserve featured on Countryfile and there are workshops for beginners and avid walkers too.

We can accommodate groups who want to walk together plus couples and individuals who want to feel welcome and confident that the walks they book are suitable and professionally led.

Highlights this year will be….

  • Daily discovery sessions to find out how walking can change your with total body walking the new regime that builds strength,  cardiovascular fitness and range of movement.
  • Whole day walks with stops for lunch on tranquil wild beaches
  • Hilltop walks with the choice of returning by a choice of steam train or open top bus!
  • Visit the iconic Blue Pool and walk on the UKs longest rope bridge (optional)

FAQs

Q. Where is it held and is accommodation provided?

A. The Festival is in the Purbeck area of Dorset with some special walks further afield in the county – we don’t provide accommodation but there’s loads to choose from here so browse Wareham, Corfe castle, Swanage and Studland to be nearest to the range of walks – be careful as Poole and Bournemouth are quite close but often that,s across the harbour on a Ferry! see VISIT DORSET for more info on the area and where to stay.

Q. Can I book passes for other people?

A. Each person needs their own passes so they can choose their own walks but if you are coming as a group we can help to keep you together or even arrange bespoke walks.

Q. I am a member of WALX or walk regularly with a group – are there any discounts?

A. Sadly not as we have kept pass prices really low this year – If you would like to help out by back marking a walk or acting as a HOST we can offer FREE places though! (Instructors who bring groups and members of the WALX Dorset group qualify for discounts and free passes – contact HQ on 0333 1234 540.

Can I bring my Dog?

A. Dogs are welcome on suitable walks but its always best to check first as there is a lot of livestock grazing and some roads – Walk descriptions will help with this too.

I have never walked with WALX before – do I have to be part of a group or a member?

A Not at all – the festival is like all other WALX sessions – anyone is welcome and if you are new we will touch base with you to make sure you are comfortable with how it all works and make you feel welcome.

Q. Is there a central HUB with marquee this year?

A. No, just a buzz at the HUB/STORE in Wareham and on the Saturday Night at the Wareham Golf Club.

Q. Do you need a car to enjoy the walks?

A. The walks are based all over Dorset but some are accessible from the main accommodation areas like Swanage, Corfe Castle and Wareham by both train and bus. You can get to Wareham by train from Waterloo, London and walks to the WALX HUB and store plus any Wareham based walks and workshops.
