Winter WALX about

News from our groups around the UK ….

Nothing has stopped the HQ team or groups around the UK from stepping out this Winter and they have certainly encountered a mix of conditions once again..

This stunning wintry shot was taken in St Albans  by the WALX Ver Valley group whilst the sunny bridge shot was taken in North  Ayreshire in January by NWUK Instructor Fiona Fisher. Proof that you can always rely on British weather to surprise you

Some walkers ventured far afield like this group from Nordic Walking Watford who spent a weekend in the Black Mountains whilst others stayed closer to home but were still no slouches. These 3 Gents from the Parks and Pathways group in Manchester clocked up a massive 37 sessions in January between them! Well done chaps!

The WALX Dorset group enjoyed a mix of themed walks from wassailing at a Cider farm to a smartphone photography session whilst the Brockenhurst clan went cross country skiing!

A number of the WALX groups decided to take on the annual February squat challenge organised by Denise Page from WALX Coast and Country by adding 10 squats a day throughout the month culminating in a brilliant final day of 280!

Denise worked out that between the groups, they performed an impressive 4060 Squats!! So many participants have seen such a difference to their strength and fitness that they aim to keep doing some every day( although maybe not 280)

If you want to boost your strength, metabolism and metabolic age, you can join Denise on line to learn how to use resistance exercise with the WALX HQ sessions – it’s free to DD payers and only £5 pay n play. See you next February for he challenge?

Meanwhile in Preston, this hardy bunch, known as the fettlers from WALX Preston,  climbed Pendle Hill (557 metres above mean sea level) TWICE despite cold, wet and muddy conditions. Well it is Lancashire!

It was part of their training for a bigger challenge later this year so we expect to see a lot more from them as they get those miles in

If your group has a story to tell -please share it on our Facebook group MAKING WALKING WORK  and lets inspire more people to STEP outside whatever the weather, whatever age and whatever level of fitness.
