When we think of core exercises it is easy to just think about abdominals and tummy exercises but there is far more to the core folks! – read on to find out why we should all take time to keep our core muscles strong.

WALX Coast and Country work on core and balance

A strong core will provide the following benefits

Improve posture, balance & stability ( help reduce falls)

Help with pain management ( especially backs )

Help with fatique

Improve breathing

Improve endurance & performance

The core is the collective term for several muscle groups that interconnect to help us stand upright and function well. They include the abdominals, pelvic floor muscles, backside (Gluteals) hips muscles and even the diaphragm.

For walkers at any level, good core strength will help with posture which in turn improves gait and the  ability to walk confidently on varied terrain.

Using poles correctly and regularly will improve posture with every step and that’s why we designed the WALX poles which are designed to engage the core in a natural movement. In fact they use the WHOLE body and a 90 minute session with one of our Instructors is all it takes to feel that core engagement and a host of other benefits. Such as toning the arms, taking the weight off the lower body joints, increasing your calorie burn and getting outside in nature!
