We have teamed up with the YHA to support their festival of walking

The YHA (youth hostelling association) are keen to play a bigger role in facilitating broader participation in walking and links to their communities. So we have linked them up with some of our local groups as part of their festival of walking which runs from 4th September to 20th October

YHA centres have moved on in recent years and they make lovely welcoming places to start and finish a walk. Great coffee, loos and a place to warm up and relax in the winter months. In fact we have used their centre in York (pictured) as a training venue for several years and can recommend the cafe! Maybe thats the lovely purple and lime branding!

For all walkers, it’s worth knowing that they also have knowledgeable staff who can help with advise on routes, and things to do/see locally. They also sell maps and other things useful to walkers

Of course they have always been  safe places, open to everyone (regardless of age) to stay at as a base for walking in some stunning locations but did you know that you don’t need to be a member of the YHA?

Nowadays, they offer private bedrooms, some are even ensuite and guests are no longer expected to do chores like in the old days either!

If you fancy an overnight stay they are also offering 25% off at selected hostels (please note some of these hostels are on an exclusive hire only basis due to not being fully staffed).

So, check out our schedule of walks in the coming weeks and chances are you will come across a walk that starts at a Youth Hostel near you.
