The Tweed Valley is a beautiful corner of the Scottish Borders, where rolling hills, peaceful forests and the winding River Tweed create a wonderful setting for a walking escape. Based in the welcoming town of Peebles, we’ll explore woodland trails and open hills, enjoy lovely valley views and share three days of fresh air, friendship and adventure.

The River Tweed
The River Tweed flows through the heart of Peebles, winding through the rolling countryside of the Scottish Borders before reaching the North Sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Famous for its salmon fishing, it brings a rich sense of history to the valley, with old stone bridges, riverside towns and peaceful paths along its banks — lovely places to walk, spot wildlife and enjoy the scenery.
Think wooded hills, wide valley views, time beside the River Tweed and the pleasure of a few days away with good company. Add the sound of bagpipes to the plans and we have the makings of a memorable Scottish adventure.

The River Tweed
Warm sunlight highlights the patchwork countryside, offering a lovely glimpse of the peaceful landscapes around Peebles waiting to be explored.
There is something rather special about exploring somewhere new with someone we already know. Colin McLean, our trusted walk leader for many years, has moved to the Tweed Valley, giving us a lovely reason to head north and discover his new corner of Scotland together.

Autumn Colours
The River Tweed at Peebles, framed by riverside trees in rich autumn colours, with the town’s distinctive crown-topped church tower rising above the canopy. A lovely glimpse of the town’s setting among the wooded Border hills.
Good walking. Good company.
A proposed programme, with the final routes and walking order to be confirmed; here is an example itinerary.
DAY ONE | Cademuir Hill
Our first taste of the Borders: woodland paths, a rewarding climb and views across the Tweed Valley. Cademuir Hill is close to Peebles, making it a lovely introduction to the area, with time to pause, take in the scenery and settle into our days away together.
DAY TWO | Glentress Forest
A day among the trees, exploring the forest paths and valley viewpoints of Glentress. A chance to enjoy a different side of the Tweed Valley, with a picnic stop, plenty of conversation and that welcome feeling of a day well spent outdoors.
DAY THREE | The Tweed & the hills around Peebles A final day discovering the countryside around our base, bringing together riverside walking and a taste of the surrounding hills. One more shared adventure before we head home with tired legs, fresh memories and a few more stories to tell.

The River Tweed
Expect three days of walking on a mixture of woodland tracks, uneven paths and hills, with climbs and descents. You should be comfortable spending several hours on your feet. Final distances, ascent and walking grades will be shared before bookings open, so you can decide whether the programme suits you. However it will be graded as moderate. Bring comfortable walking boots, waterproofs, layers, a day rucksack, drinks and a packed lunch for the walks.
Dates, the walking fee, group size, payment terms and full inclusions will be announced once arrangements are secured. Accommodation, meals and travel will be arranged and paid for separately unless the confirmed trip information states otherwise. Any local transport arrangements will also be clarified before booking. Evening meals will be arranged to eat together.
