During this 45 minute session you get to feel the benefits from using the poles for walking. Using up to 90% of the body muscle, it targets those difficult to tone areas. Walking with poles is fun, social, fantastic and it will change the way you exercise.
Poles are provided for the session.
Please have suitable footwear on and a rucksack is advised for your belongings.

There is a charge for Danson Park car park after 10.00am.
Hall Place Meeting point
Please meet on the right hand side as you enter the car park as if you were in a car. The Instructor will be parked under the tree and have a grey car, A group will be returning to the car just before the meeting time.

A comfortably paced Total Body WALX for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, during the walk providing if the weather is fine, we will stop for a 20 minute session of Chi Ball - a mixture of Tai Chi and Yoga from the seasons sequence. A small ball is used but imagination is fine for the session.

You can book this session without the Power of Poles training, join us walking with no poles or borrow a set from us and feel the ‘Power of Poles’.

This is course is to enable the enthusiastic newcomer to enter the world of walking with poles where they can improve their skills and fitness levels.
It will bring you confidence to walk with poles. You will leave this session feeling excited about getting going.
Ideal once you have tasted the experience you will want to continue your journey.
You will throughout your participation in sessions receive excellent instruction and motivation to keep you engaged.
You will be supported as often and to the level you wish. We are a social group and have so much fun keeping active and getting fitter.
There are numerous sessions and weekly walks to help you continue practising what you have learned.

With a wide variety of venues and terrain to chose from you are sure to discover a few favourites. Join Carolyne for one of our most popular scenic walks that is led during the Festival, it incorporates the ancient village of Bere Regis with links to Kings John, Henry III and Edward I.
The village and nearby Woodbury Hill feature in many of Hardys novels and the church is where Tess of the d'Urbervilles found the relics of her supposed Ancestors.
A delightful 2.5 hrs walk through woodland, heath, river meadows and rolling farmland, not to be missed.
Mainly on level open terrain, the walk has two steady climbs but is mainly on good paths.
Please park in the lay-by along Elder Road, or on the roadside. There is also a car park off of Manor Road. Turn right off Elder Road.

Disley Nordic Walks
Meeting at the War Memorial in Disley ( in front of the Rams Head). We`ll take aprt in a short warm-up before we head off exploring the countryside around the Parish of Disley. I t varies from urban to rural very quickly with differing views to be had on each walk.
The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a litlle longer than that, due to terrain, weather, etc.
After the walk there is a short stretching session too.

Beginners Nordic Walking Courses. (Power of Poles Intro) There are courses on the 28th June and 8th July too. These are a great way to get started with Nordic walking, whether for health, fitness or simply exercising effectively outside.Walking with poles is less stressful on the joints, it makes you walk faster with very little extra effort, it works your upper body as well as the legs.The result being more effective calorie burning, stronger core and toning of the upper body.The initial session is 90 minute session, you'll learn the basics of Nordic walking, gaining the skills to get the most from your own walking as well as being able to join national Nordic Walking UK and WALX classes.Once the first session is completed, two regular walks or one longer walk are included with IRBO, and everything we did in the first session will come together.
