Enjoy a GENTLE full body work out while walking beside the banks of the Taw estuary, along the South West Coast path,(SWCP) Tarka trail and Instow beach before returning to the Cafe for a well-deserved “revive me” cup of coffee. 9.30am START. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the 'Saturday Early Bird Workout Walk' is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, & push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code. Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.
Meeting point - We meet outside the cafe at the Clifton Country Park Visitor Centre Car Park. (Sat Nav: M27 6NG). Plenty of free parking. Easily reached via exit 16 off the M60 or exit 2 off the M61, then along the A666 and turn down Clifton House Road (follow brown signs). Bus stop: Use the Clifton Cricket Club stop on Manchester Road (Bus numbers 8 and 22). Park is a short walk down Clifton House Road.
Stay after the walk for the social at the cafe.... have a quick brew (option to bring your own mug to be more environmentally friendly) and have breakfast if you wish... and then stay for the 11am Saturday Strider Adventure Walk too! (Even better value if you're on the monthly Direct Debit option!).
Toilet facilities are available at the cafe (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks).

A comfortably paced walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, during the walk providing the weather is fine, we will stop for a 20 minute session of Chi Ball - A mixture of Tai Chi and Yoga from the seasonal sequence (See the dashboard for details on the virtual class). a small ball is used but imagination is fine for the session. Details can be given if you would like to purchase a ball.
You may continue to walk with the WALX Guides if you do not want to take part in the chi ball.

Join our Guided Nordic Walk around the ancient Forest. Walks are led by our team of experienced Forestry England Volunteers. Our walks are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, who have completed a NWUK Learn to Walk Course and are comfortable walking for the full 90 minutes.
All our walks will be conducted in line with government COVID guidelines, and we ask that you also comply with these.

Come and try this 30 minute Power Of Poles taster session and experience how good Nordic Walking makes you feel, so that you can make an informed decision to take up Nordic walking and join one of our Power Of Poles beginner's workshops.
We supply the poles. All poles are stringently sanitized and isolated for 72 hours prior to and after use.
We have strict covid protocols and ask that you to maintain a distance from other attendees. Please carry a face mask and hand sanitizer.

The POWER of THE POLES is a structured programme suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Come and discover the joys of Nordic Walking and how to turn your walking into total body exercise using strapless poles which will enable you to learn more quickly and easily.
Your NWUK qualified instructor, Susan Spain, will help you understand your current level of fitness and empower you to use poles at an intensity level for the results you want. The session also includes advice on the different types of pole available including traditional strapped Nordic Walking poles.
Currently taught in a small group (max 4 plus instructor), at the end of the 90 minutes you will have a full understanding of how to use poles effectively and at a level where you can then join our Parks and Pathways regular walks and classes, sign up to other NWUK or WALX classes or simply get more out of walking in your own time.
The session price of £15 also includes your first walk with the group once you've completed your induction session. Your instructor will give you advice on which regular sessions are best suited to you.
There will also be an option to sign up to a second Power of the Poles 2 - 90 minute course - at a later date to discover more advanced Nordic Walking technique using strapped poles if you so wish subject to Covid-19 protocols.

Rose Hill Marple Nordic Walks
Come along and join us on a friendly Nordic Walk starting at The Railway Pub near Rose Hill Station Marple, there are different circular routes around the area, using a mixture of streets, canals, parks, woodland, riverside paths, bridlepaths
The walk includes a short mobilisation of joints prior to walking and a cool down stretch at the end.
The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, social distancing measures.
