Wellbeing WALX – Walking for Balance, Posture and Wellbeing Our Wellbeing WALX is designed for those who would like to improve their balance, posture, mobility and overall wellbeing in a relaxed and supportive environment. We meet and finish at the Royal Mail Cart Public House, Pinchbeck Road, Spalding, before heading out on a gentle walk through the local area. Along the route, we will pause periodically to practice a range of simple Tai Chi and Qigong-inspired exercises designed to improve stability, body awareness, breathing and coordination. Unlike a traditional fitness walk, this session combines gentle walking with simple Tai Chi and Qigong movements that can be easily integrated into everyday life. The combination of walking and Tai Chi offers a unique approach to healthy ageing. Walking helps maintain cardiovascular fitness, strengthens the legs and supports joint mobility, while Tai Chi and Qigong movements encourage better posture, improved balance, greater flexibility and a calmer, more focused mind. Together they create a holistic form of exercise that nurtures both physical and mental wellbeing. Research has shown that regular Tai Chi practice can help reduce the risk of falls, improve confidence in movement and enhance functional mobility. When combined with walking, participants benefit from gentle aerobic exercise whilst also developing strength, coordination and body awareness. The pace of the walk is relaxed and suitable for most abilities. There is no need for previous experience of Tai Chi or Qigong, and all movements can be adapted to individual needs.
