Walk Description:

This is a delightful and scenic walk through Thorncombe Woods and Puddletown Forest with a slight difference, we will be working on your Hill stamina. This is for everyone who is looking to improve their Hill work that includes everyone who is looking to start doing longer walks and feels unable to do so due to hills. Everything will be taken at your own level not at the person next to you.

Suitable for all abilites with or without poles.

There is a wealth of wildlife – including resident Dartmoor ponies- and a varied range of mature trees and open scrubland from which, high up, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside with the Purbeck Hill’s in the distance. A walk not to be missed!

We will meet in car park, there is a charge of £2 to use the car park.

Throughout the walk we will be observing the social distancing as best as possible at all times.

For online classes you must ensure that you have a clear area to train (Approx 2m Square).

You must dress appropriately for the session.

You must ensure that your emergency contact details are up to date in your profile. 

You will need a mat for floor exercises, a tea towel for strength exercises and a place where you can do press ups such as a kitchen work surface.  If you have access to a fitness band that would be useful too.

A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! These walks include exercises that help with flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. Suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health.  

COVID Safety steps:

Facial covering is recommended to protect yourself when passing others. I will be wearing a facial mask for your protection as well as mine. I will also carry gloves so that I can open up gates, if needed, for you to safely go through. Throughout the walk we will be observing the social distancing as best as possible at all times.

Gentle WALX which incorporate balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of tai chi or relaxation too. A Wellness session incorporating gentle fitness walking with above activities, taught by a retired nurse. It is sociable and can be followed by a cafe visit when covid restrictions allow.

Start the week with this OPEN wellness walk with or without poles in convenient Victoria Park with a friendly mixed ability group. We prefer to walk with poles as it is more effective than ordinary walking .When poles are used we are able to engage the upper body, core muscles, improve posture and burn more calories

You will need to book online as a completed PARQ ( medical form ) is required

. This is a mixed ability walk and we split into 2 or 3 groups so all can walk at apace which is beneficial for the individual

 These walks will be ideal for anyone recovering from Covid and those walkers who want a gentle return to pre lockdown fitness levels. 

We`re stepping back out with caution as Government guidelines are allowing us a little more freedom to get out and Nordic Walk again. These walks will follow STRICT Social distancing rules.

 Please  bring with you a mask, hand gel/ wipes, and  a pair of disposable gloves in a small rucsac with your drink  and any medication you may need .

This session is suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health and are looking for an easier pace on a good terrain. Many of our members are seeing the benefits of participating in the wellness sessions. 

Results have included a reduction in blood pressure, improvements in breathing, better balance and a general feeling of wellbeing. We have a lot of fun as we exercise in the fresh air. This is a very social session and we encourage chatting!

The programme we use is recognised by physiotherapist and Parkinson’s UK This session is a non impact session and is focusing on muscular strength and balance.

Walk Description:

A Nordic Walking Group for Members of Worcestershire Breat Unit Haven.

Nordic walking is the most perfect form of whole body exercise because it is gentle yet effective. It is easily accessible and a low cost way to exercise while enjoying the great outdoors.

 

The use of poles helps target the muscles that are often affected by breast surgery and the rhythmic action of the arms and the shoulders aids both lymphoedema and mobilisation.

 

Use Nordic walking to turn your walk into a workout! With Nordic walking the poles are used to propel the body forward allowing you to walk faster and stronger.
