Walk Description:

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Miriam's Friday Meander is an easy/moderate pace fortnightly walk of around 4 miles, ideal for those who who would like to build their distance and stamina to a point that they can join Workout Walks and longer Adventure Walks. The walks are based in countryside locations easily accessed from the East Lancashire Road (A580) or M56/M60/M62/M61 corridors.  Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! When allowed/feasible there is an optional brew stop at a local cafe or pub after the walk or sometimes a bring your own mid walk 'Rucksack cafe'.  

THIS WEEK: A Garden, Golf & Canal - Circular Walk from RHS Garden Bridgewater, Worsley. Enjoy a circular 4 mile easy pace walk from starting from RHS Garden Bridgewater taking in the public footpaths around Worsley Park Golf Course, before returning via Boothstown Marina, the Bridgewater canal & woodland paths. Then why not stay for lunch or a brew at the RHS Bridgewater Cafe. You don't need to be a member of the RHS to access the cafe/shop or garden centre. But why not book yourself a visit the garden after lunch. Prebooking a garden visit may be worth it at this time of year (you can book it online) 

Meeting point - RHS Garden Bridgewater Car Park (far end). RHS Garden Bridgewater is located off the A572 Leigh Road and can be accessed via Junction 13 of the M60 via the Worsley interchange roundabouts or from the A580 East Lancashire Road via the A577 or A572 . Follow the brown signs. Turn off the A572 Leigh Road at the RHS Bridgewater traffic lights onto Occupation Road. Follow the access road down and turn left in the car park. Park in the rows furthest away from the visitor centre on the left, immediately as you turn in the car park. This is where we will meet. The car park is free. There are toilets immediately on the left as you enter the visitor centre.

Disley Nordic Walks

Meeting at the War Memorial in Disley (in front of The Rams Head) we`ll have a warm-up before we head off exploring the magnificent countryside around the Parish of Disley. It varies from urban to rural very quickly with differing views to be had on each walk. There may be the opportunity to grab a coffee once the walk has finished.

The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, weather and social distancing measures.

Walk Description:

Longer route to include Hills Rainbow Woods, through the Fairy Wood

Capability Brown Indulgence = Gorgeous, rural walk starting with a spot of Forest Bathing in Rainbow Woods, you may even spot some fairy doors!  We leave the woods then a Descent followed by you know it an Ascent (quite steep) but we earn our Coffee afterwards.  Stunning views circular walk note may be Cows in the field though there is always an alternative route to avoid the Cows.and follow a circular route through fields and footpaths.Mainly gears 1 and 2 but may get into gear 3 for those who want more of a challenge.  Options on the walk to adapt for differing abilities.
