A walk up to, and around one of the best-preserved Iron-Age Hill Forts in the Country. As you would expect, there are spectacular panoramic views from the top!

Nordic Walx are simply sociable Nordic walks in a mixed ability group, enjoying beautiful locations in and around South Shropshire and beyond. Most routes are circular and will try to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

Walk Description:

A moderate walking pace and working towards 'Gear 2' - aiming to improve the fitness of intermediate walkers.  Benefit from a full body workout and the cross training that walking with poles gives you. A few prompts from me to remind you of your technique and to help you maintain a regular pace. Using the gentle inclines to improve rhythm and cardio fitness. 

Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced. 

Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

Starting out from the car park opposite the Harrogate Squash &  Fitness Centre, the route heads across the old golf course, then passes the viaduct towards Rudding Lane and returns across fields via Harrogate Ringway. The route then comes back up across the old golf course, follows the trail through Hookstone Wood, passes the lake and returns to the car park.

This activity is suitable for those who can walk at in a Gear 2 .There will be plenty  of opportunity to push  yourself to a higher cardio level.

Let's get back out in the evenings. If you've been working all day and need to get some fresh air and exercise then Tuesday evenings are for you. 

A moderate paced walk changing venue week on week. Pamphill, Badbury Rings, Holt Heath or Canford. We rotate the walk each week and walk from 3-5 miles. 

This week we start at Whitesheets Car park for a walk that takes us across to Holt Farm and up to the Bull Barrow before heading back to the car park.   

Poles are not a requirement but you must be able to walk a 20 minute mile with few stops.

Nordic Walking can quickly build your general fitness, but adding some specific exercises will help you to perform better and keep improving your fitness.

In these walks we will do interval sessions (alternating between fast (gear 3, speedhyking) and slow (gear 2) Nordic Walking and hill drills in combination with muscular strength and endurance exercises. But we will also pay attention to balance and coordination in a variety of exercises.

Walk Description:

This 90 minute introduction course will introduce you to fitness walking poles to empower you on your health and well being journey.   During the fun session you will experience the power of the poles for a full body work-out to help you burn more calories and get fitter faster

After you have ve completed the introduction session, you will receive the Freedom Passport and you can start attending instructor led group walks where you can practice what you have learned and be supported on your journey to achieve your goals.  The first group walk is included in the induction session fee.  

Poles will be provided for you on the day.

Do wear apprpropriate weather proof clothing and footwear (avoid ankle boots if possible)
