These gentle walks are suitable for people who would like to start Nordic Walking to get fit but have no/ little walking experience, have had an injury or an knee/ hip operation.
We often walk on the Tissington Trail as this is fairly level and even. But we will also incorporate fields and hills in our walks which are 2-3 miles.
Gear 1 and 2
Please bring a flak with hoot drink for after the walk.
Sometimes we meet somewhere else to do a similar walk.
This is for members with a Nordic Walking UK FREEDOM passport.
Please note, there are no toilet facilities

This is a Gear 2 walk and is just under 5 miles with a couple of short-ish steep ramps and some longer gentler inclines. The walk is along hard tracks and lovely turf. It is a great fitness improver for those who want to walk a longer distance at a faster pace with an established technique.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

A 6.5 mile walk to continue our series of ’love your coastline’. This section takes you out from Hundred End, which is a small hamlet in between Hesketh Bank and Banks back in the direction of Becconsall. Walk along the embankment towards Hesketh Out Marsh which some of you will recognise right along till a boat yard is reached. From here we walk past an old chapel Becconsall Old church back to the start.

WALX of Wellbeing are free walks led by qualified volunteer walk leaders, previously known as Walking for Health Walks these are a great way to get outdoors, enjoy the green spaces and make new friends.

A comfortably paced walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, during the walk providing the weather is fine we will stop for a 20 minute session of Chi Ball - A mixture of Tai Chi and Yoga from the Winter sequence (See the dashboard for details on the virtual class). a small ball is used but imagination is fine for the session. Details can be given if you would like to purchase a ball.
You may continue to walk with the WALX Guides if you do not want to take part in the chi ball.

NOTE 10AM START THIS WEEK TO ALLOW FOR BREW BREAK AT CAFE AT 11AM. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the `Thursday Thunderer Workout Walk` is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk starting from different locations in the Salford area. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code. Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.
This week - starting from Parr Fold Park, Walkden, Worsley. (Why not stay after the walk for the brew break social at the cafe)
Meeting point – Meet outside the park entrance at the corner of Park Road & Rutland Road. From the A580 East Lancashire Road, turn onto the A575 Walkden Road. After passing Worsley College on your left, at the mini roundabout turn left onto Park Road (circa 0.5 mile from A580). Then turn left into Rutland Road as you reach the end of the park. There is a large layby to park as you turn into Rutland Road. Please don't block driveways. We will meet at the park entrance on Rutland Road. Toilet facilities available when the cafe is open.

For the first of our Jubilee Way WALX we will circle from Melton Mowbray to Burrough on the Hill and back, taking in the local pathways and the first section of the Jubilee Way Long Distance Path. Starting out in High Leicestershire - the name may be a give away to the fact that there are hills to climb on this section! But, what goes up has the pleasure of coming back down again and is worth it for the view!
This activity will start and finish at the same point. There will be the opportunity for a lunch stop mid-way through the walk, so don't forget to bring your sandwiches and drinks.

A Wellness session incorporating gentle fitness walking with above activities, taught by a retired nurse. It is sociable and can be followed by a cafe visit when covid restrictions allow.s
Eveyone is welcome on this OPEN wellness walk with or without poles. Join this friendly mixed ability group. We prefer to walk with poles as it is more effective than ordinary walking .When poles are used we are able to engage the upper body, core muscles, improve posture and burn more calories
You will need to book online as a completed PARQ ( medical form ) is required
. This is a mixed ability walk and we split into 2 or 3 groups so all can walk at apace which is beneficial for the individual
These walks will be ideal for anyone recovering from Covid or other health conditions and those walkers who want a gentle return to pre lockdown fitness levels.
We`re stepping back out with caution as Government guidelines are allowing us a little more freedom to get out and Nordic Walk again. These walks will follow STRICT Social distancing rules.
Please bring with you a mask, hand gel/ wipes, and a pair of disposable gloves in a small rucsac with your drink and any medication you may need .
