Walk Description:

10.30AM START. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the `Thursday Thunderer Workout Walk` is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk starting from different locations in the Salford area. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code.  Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.

Meeting point - The Moorings Pub, Boothstown. Sat Nav, 2 Quayside Close, Boothstown M28 1YB. Meet in the car park of the pub. Turn off Leigh Road A577 into Booths Hall Way. Then turn left into Quayside Close and the pub is directly in front of you. Stay after the walk for a brew or a bite to eat at the Moorings which has indoor & outdoor seating. Toilets should be available after the walk at the pub which opens at 11am.

Gentle WALX which incorporate balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of tai chi or relaxation too

 A Wellness session incorporating gentle fitness walking with above activities, taught by a retired nurse. It is sociable and can be followed by a cafe visit when covid restrictions allow.s

Eveyone is welcome on this OPEN wellness walk with or without poles. Join this friendly mixed ability group. We prefer to walk with poles as it is more effective than ordinary walking .When poles are used we are able to engage the upper body, core muscles, improve posture and burn more calories

You will need to book online as a completed PARQ ( medical form ) is required

. This is a mixed ability walk and we split into 2 or 3 groups so all can walk at apace which is beneficial for the individual

 These walks will be ideal for anyone recovering from Covid or other health conditions and those walkers who want a gentle return to pre lockdown fitness levels. 

We`re stepping back out with caution as Government guidelines are allowing us a little more freedom to get out and Nordic Walk again. These walks will follow STRICT Social distancing rules.

 Please  bring with you a mask, hand gel/ wipes, and  a pair of disposable gloves in a small rucsac with your drink  and any medication you may need .

Walk Description:

 

Walk up to the Fyrish Monument follows the traditional steep climb through the woods, up past the little lochan before we reach the summit.  The return route can be steep in places and very uneven.

The route is steep but don't let that put you off.  We will take our time going up and this will be a good practice of hill walking using our poles. The views of the Cromarty Firth at the top is stunning and the monument itself is an impressive structure.

We will meet at the Fyrish carpark along the Boath road, off the Struie.  We will warm up at the car park before we start our walk.

As always, I plan to go for coffee at Storehouse and you are most welcome to join me!

Walk Description:

This is a varied route which takes in Irby Heath and Thurstaston. We will explore the oak, birch and pine woodland on tracks and trails with the occasional short incline.  There is a superb view across the Dee estuary from Thurstaston Hill. It is a moderately paced walk and the emphasis is on enjoying the natural environment, but,  the tracks are rough in places and you will need to be comfortable on uneven ground. Please contact me directly if you are unsure if this walk is suitable for you.

In line with Covid-19 guidelines, social distancing will be observed at all times.

The principles of Hatha Yoga connect the mind, body and breath to improve your strength, flexibility and mental wellbeing. This walk employs those principles and incorporates Hatha Yoga asanas which can be performed with or without the use of poles, to aid your physical strength and restore a calm mental state. In addition, we will include other wellness exercises to give you a balanced workout.
