A 'Gear 1' gentle walk of approximately 2 miles along a wide grass drove and country lane. This is not a long walk but faster walkers could do the circuit twice! Walking at your own pace whilst benefiting from a full body workout and the cross training that walking with poles gives you. A few prompts from me to remind you of your technique and to help you maintain a regular pace. Coffee/tea and cake is available from 11am-1pm at £5 per person.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

We will walk on across fields eventually reaching the golf course, past a beautiful lake, normally full of birds playing.
This is a 3 mile walk takes us through pastures, open countryside and continues on to the grounds of the 12th Century All Saint’s Church of Brailsford. No Daffodils or Snowdrops.

Note 10.20am meet up for a prompt 10.30am start. Led this week by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain (as Miriam is not available). The Friday Meander is an easy/moderate pace fortnightly walk of around 4 miles, ideal for those who who would like to build their distance and stamina to a point that they can join Workout Walks and longer Adventure Walks. The walks are based in countryside locations easily accessed from the East Lancashire Road (A580) or M56/M60/M62/M61 corridors. Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! When allowed/feasible there is an optional brew stop at a local cafe or pub after the walk or sometimes a bring your own mid walk 'Rucksack cafe'.
THIS WEEK - Exploring the Lower Rivington Estate, Bolton with optional post walk lunch at Rivington Great House Barn. This will be a circa 4 mile/ 2hour walk. This is an opportunity for those of you who want to experience the lovely Rivington Estate, Horwich, Bolton, which has been the setting for several of Susan's more strenuous 6 plus miles Sunday Special walks but at an easier more leisurely pace and with a more gentle walk. There will be NO steep inclines, just a mainly flat walk around the Lower Rivington Reservoir Estate taking in the glorious scenery and views. Plenty of time after the walk to have lunch or just a brew at The Great House Barn cafe or get there early & enjoy a pre walk brew/breakfast at the cafe.
Toilet facilities are available at the Visitor Centre at Great House Barn before & after the walk.
Meeting point - Great House Barn car park, infront of the cafe. Leave M61 at Junction 6. At the end of De Havilland Way (passed Reebok Stadium) turn left at the Beehive Roundabout onto A673 Chorley New Road. After 2 miles turn right onto Lever Park Avenue which becomes Rivington Lane. The Barn is on the left after circa 1.5 miles. Meet at the front of the Great House Barn Visitor Centre on Rivington Lane. Lots of free parking available nearby including directly opposite the Great House Barn on the lane up to Rivington Hall Barn. Nearest Sat Nav BL6 7SB

The Courtyard at The Leckford Hutt have a coffee morning 11am-1pm at £5 per person, so there is coffee/tea and cake available after your walk. Should you have a relation or neighbour who would like to attend the coffee morning while you walk, please bring them along and give them an outing. Our support of the coffee morning is payment for the car parking!

Rose Hill Marple Nordic Walks
Come along and join us on a friendly Nordic Walk starting at The Railway Pub near Rose Hill Station Marple, there are different circular routes around the area, using a mixture of streets, canals, parks, woodland, riverside paths, bridlepaths
The walk includes a short mobilisation of joints prior to walking and a cool down stretch at the end.
The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, social distancing measures.

Gears 1 and maybe 2 with some hills.
