A moderate walking pace and working towards 'Gear 2' - aiming to improve the fitness of intermediate walkers. Benefit from a full body workout and the cross training that walking with poles gives you. A few prompts from me to remind you of your technique and to help you maintain a regular pace. Using the gentle inclines to improve rhythm and cardio fitness.
Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced.
Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

The walk leaves Hampsthwaite via the churchyard, and crosses fields before climbing up through Gormires Wood. The walk then descends via Swincliffe Lane and Hurst Lane before returning to Hampsthwaite. At about 3.3 miles, the walk takes around 90 minutes. (Flask)

This walk starts from the car park near the cricket club in Hampsthwaite. It follows the footpath up to Myer’s Green, then heads left and down towards the River Nidd. The route then follows the River Nidd back to the bridge at Hampsthwaite, then back to the car Park. Let's get back out in the evenings. If you've been working all day and need to get some fresh air and exercise then Tuesday evenings are for you.
A moderate paced walk changing venue week on week. Pamphill, Badbury Rings, Holt Heath or Canford. We rotate the walk each week and walk from 3-5 miles.
This week we start at the little car park opposite Lodge Farm near Kingston Lacy on B3082 and head out towards Witchampton and back along good wide tracks with some inclines. This walk is 5 miles plus so bring water and a snack just in case. It may take a little longer than 90 mins.
Poles are not a requirement but you must be able to walk a 20 minute mile with few stops.

A combination of ski fit, outdoor PT exercises and speed hyking.
This is ideal for those that want to build their fitness in 2022. As a qualified and insured Level 3 Personal Trainer and highly qualified Nordic Walking Instrucor I am bringing together a series of focused exercises each week aimed at building your stamina, agility, flexibility and lean muscle getting you looking and feeling great. I will be introducing bodyweight exercisies and later exercises with weights/bands. You will be working at a much higher level than other walks we have done but it’s a lot of fun too. This is not a walk in a park … Come and try it out?
