Join our Explorer WALX at local countryside parks and nature reserves around St Albans. Visit some of Hertfordshire's beautiful countryside, on varied terrain, these walks are ideal for anyone who wants to improve their fitness and enjoy the social side of walking.

This is a gentle walking class. It's ideal for anyone who wants to progress gently with their exercise and practise their Nordic walking technique. We will encourage you to increase your walking distance and speed over time. There will always be rest  opportunities for those that require them.

The Sunday social walks are at various locations and aim to cover approx. 4 miles at a comfortable pace over 1 1/2 hours.

Walk Description:

This walk takes us through the deep countryside surrounding Hartfield with a magnificent view once we reach the top on a small private road mainly used for horses. 

The summer version or on a dry winter day, we can do the alternative route which takes us past a beautiful lake that houses many ducks where you hear a cacophony of laughter or what it seems like.

 

Note: We will be practicing our 'poles apart' social distancing throughout this walk.

The POWER of POLES (POP) Induction is totally unique in that it explores the use of both strapless and strapped Nordic walking poles to help you gain the best techniques and results! This course is taught over 1.5 hours.

Walk Description:

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill impossible not to have the tune in your head or sing out loud as we feast our eyes on the view celebrated in song.

 This walk can be done in either direction for slightly different but nevertheless stunning views again an absolutely gorgeous rural and village circular walk with views over Bath, can be steep just to get up to the top of the hill and the beginning of the descent but other than that a gradual climb – you can go at your own pace.  There are sometimes Cows grazing around the pasture around and sometimes on the hill but we can avoid them and they are very much used to people and dogs up there.
