This is course is to enable the enthusiastic newcomer to enter the world of walking with poles where they can improve their skills and fitness levels.
It will bring you confidence to walk with poles. You will leave this session feeling excited about getting going.
Ideal once you have tasted the experience you will want to continue your journey.
You will throughout your participation in sessions receive excellent instruction and motivation to keep you engaged.
You will be supported as often and to the level you wish. We are a social group and have so much fun keeping active and getting fitter.

The Saturday Strider is led this week by NWUK Walk Leader Sue Kelly and is an easy/moderate pace 2-3 mile, 1 hour walk. Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! They are great walks to attend to build your fitness especially if you`d like to progress onto the faster paced or longer walks.
Meeting point - We meet outside the cafe at the Clifton Country Park Visitor Centre Car Park. (Sat Nav: M27 6NG). Plenty of free parking. Easily reached via exit 16 off the M60 or exit 2 off the M61, then along the A666 and turn down Clifton House Road (follow brown signs). Bus stop: Use the Clifton Cricket Club stop on Manchester Road (Bus numbers 8 and 22). Park is a short walk down Clifton House Road.
Why not come earlier for 10.30 & join in our cafe social between the end of the Early Bird Workout Walk and the start of this session?
Toilet facilities are available at the cafe (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks).

A Gentle and safe way to walk yourself fitter! These walks use poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility. Suitable for those who want to gently build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or for those who may have concerns about their health.
GENTLE pace: 4 km/2 miles p/hr

A great way to start the week is with an Active Mondays walk in and around Stanmore. Get ready for the weekend with a stimulating Saturday morning walk around Stanmore Country park. Or join us on a Sunday morning for a longer, faster paced walk in Ruislip Woods.These are intermediate walks, lasting one hour and will include some hill work. For those new to the area you`ll be surprised at the fantastic views over London that you get from Wood Farm Viewpoint, the hidden lakes in PearsWood and Bentley Priory and the seemigly endless trails through woods which change with the seasons.
Walkabout Wednesdays give the opportunity to travel a little further into neighbouring boroughs, or out along the Metropolitan line into the Chess Valley. Saturdays we`re always in the Stanmore Country Park, but we never tire of it as there are such a variety of trails to explore.
COVID Safety Steps
Facial coverings are recommended to protect yourself when passing others. I may wear a face covering at the start of walks and carry gloves to open gates for you to go through. Throughout the walk we will maintain social distancing as best we can at all times.
NB we will not be hirning poles during the current pandemic to prevent transmission of the virus.

This walk is designed to incorporate the great outdoors with poses from the YogaWALX Fusion sequence. The session will last for approximately 1 hour and we will stop for Refreshments which are included in the price.
By using the poles it helps to keep us stable whilst holding the poses, there are variations to enable the session to be suitable for all. If you practice Yoga in an indoor environment, we are sure you will enjoy the benefits of being outside, breathing the fresh air, enjoying nature and noticing the advantage of using the poles.
