START TIME 11.40.  Susan`s Thursday Motivator Nordic Walk is an gentle/easy pace 1 hour walk for NWUK Freedom Passport holders. This session is ideal for those wanting to improve their fitness & who just want to have a Nordic Walk, fresh air and chat. Start times and locations vary to give variety on a week by week basis so please check carefully each week but will be in the Salford area. Run by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain

THIS  WEEK - PARR FOLD PARK, WALKDEN, SALFORD. (Start time of walk is 11.40am but why not join us at the cafe for a brew break social beforehand at 11am)

Meeting point – Meet at the cafe just inside the park entrance at the corner of Park Road & Rutland Road. From the A580 East Lancashire Road, turn onto the A575 Walkden Road. After passing Worsley College on your left, at the mini roundabout turn left onto Park Road (circa 0.5 mile from A580). Then turn left into Rutland Road as you reach the end of the park. There is a large layby to park as you turn into Rutland Road. Please don't block driveways. We will meet at the cafe, just inside the park entrance on Rutland Road by the playground. Toilet facilities available when the cafe is open 

Google Maps  - search for 2 Rutland Road, Walkden, Worsley which is opposite the layby parking.

Walk Description:

 For those who have completed the Power of Poles Induction course –this walk varies in pace and is designed to help you to improve your fitness levels . This is a mixed pace friendly walking group to join;. Moore Nature reserve provides a variety of routes to enable you to practice your Nordic walking techniques on mainly flat terrain. We use the hides for brief stops to watch the birdlife on the lakes or shelter from the rain! Birdwatchers there often let us know if there are unusual birds to watch out for such as waxwings. Sometimes we meet at Delph Lane and walk in the Daresbury Firs to add a hill to increase intensity into our walk.

We`re stepping back out with caution as Government guidelines are allowing us a little more freedom to get out and Nordic Walk again. These walks will follow STRICT Social distancing rules 

This is for members with a Nordic Walking UK FREEDOM passport 

. Please bring a mask, hand gel/wipes, a pair of disposable gloves in a small rucsac with your drink and any medication you may need

For the first of our Jubilee Way WALX we will walk the Jubilee Way Long Distance Path from Burrough on the Hill to Melton Mowbray. Starting out in High Leicestershire - the name may be a give away to the fact that there are hills to climb on this section! But, what goes up has the pleasure of coming back down again and is worth it for the view!

This activity will start and finish at different locations. There will be the opportunity for a lunch stop mid-way through the walk, so don't forget to bring your sandwiches and drinks.

This is a great walk to increase your fitness. The walk is roughly 1 hour long. Our walk will take us through the beautiful streets and country paths around East Grinstead.

This walk changes weekly as there are so many wonderful areas to explore. The terrain includes hills and fast flats and can be muddy underfoot on wet evenings.    

This walk is the perfect way to work on your fitness in a fabulous setting. Come and enjoy walking, take in the views, fresh air and company of the group, whilst being active outdoors.

If you have a head torch feel free to bring it with you on the darker evenings.

Duration – 1 ½ hours, walk grade - 3.5.  Not everyone walks at the same pace!  The Regular Walk is a social way to get fit and stay fit.  It`s aimed at moderate paced walkers and above.  After a warm up we will set off together and those that wish to walk fast can go ahead and at certain points we will gather together.  This is achieved by those walking ahead will, at certain points or times, double back to the rear of the group or remaining at a pre-determined rendezvous point and practicing drills or other gentle exercises to keep warm and active.

A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! These walks will be at 'Gear 1' and will include optional exercises that help with flexibility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness and increase join mobility. There are no hills in this session.

Gear 1 - A nice, easy and natural pace that you can do for extended periods with recovery periods where appropriate. Short hills might be introduced. 

Gear 2 - A faster pace gained through technique. There will be less recovery time.

Walk Description:

 These walks take you any where and everywhere. The main focus of these walks are to explore the area, including open countryside, Nature Reserves, Canals and Parks and Gardens .

Depending on the route will depend on the terrain we will be walking over,  which may include some styles and rough ground 

The walks will vary each week and are lead either by an instructor or a walk leader.

Please be aware on this walk as it goes through some woodland the terrain in places can be quite narrow and the path in places  has exposed roots making it tricky in places   

The good news is there are no stiles !!!
