10.30am start time. Led by NWUK Instructor Susan Spain, the 'Monday Blaster Workout Walk' is a 1 hour moderate to faster pace Workout Walk starting from different locations in the South Manchester area. These energising sessions will help you rebuild your stamina and fitness levels, push that pace without compromising on technique plus work on strength and core fitness. For those who have completed a Power of the Poles or Learn to Nordic walk course and have their Freedom code.  Incorporates motivating drills and exercises using Gears 1, 2 and .... maybe some Gear 3. Will also incorporates some technique work to help you get the most out of your Nordic Walking.

This is a delightful and scenic walk through Thorncombe Woods and Puddletown Forest with a slight difference, we will be working on your Hill stamina. This is for everyone who is looking to improve their Hill work that includes everyone who is looking to start doing longer walks and feels unable to do so due to hills. Everything will be taken at your own level not at the person next to you.

Suitable for all abilites with or without poles.

There is a wealth of wildlife – including resident Dartmoor ponies- and a varied range of mature trees and open scrubland from which, high up, there are magnificent views of the surrounding countryside with the Purbeck Hill’s in the distance. A walk not to be missed!

We will meet in car park, there is a charge of £2 to use the car park.

Throughout the walk we will be observing the social distancing as best as possible at all times.

For online classes you must ensure that you have a clear area to train (Approx 2m Square).

You must dress appropriately for the session.

You will need a mat for floor exercises, a tea towel for strength exercises and a place where you can do press ups such as a kitchen work surface.  If you have access to a fitness band that would be useful too.

Your NWUK qualified instructor, Susan Spain, will help you understand your current level of fitness and empower you to use poles at an intensity level for the results you want. The session also includes advice on the different types of pole available including traditional strapped Nordic Walking poles. 

Currently taught in a small group (max 4 plus instructor), at the end of the 90 minutes you will have a full understanding of how to use poles effectively and at a level where you will receive your Nordic Walking UK Freedom Code.  You can then join our Parks and Pathways regular walks and classes, sign up to other NWUK or WALX classes or simply get more out of walking in your own time. 

The session price of £15 also includes your first walk with the group once you've completed your induction session. Your instructor will give you advice on which regular sessions are best suited to you. 

There will also be an option to sign up to a second Power of the Poles 2  - 90 minute course  - at a later date to discover more advanced Nordic Walking technique using strapped poles if you so wish subject to Covid-19 protocols. 

Meeting point - Chorlton Water Park car park. Turn off A5145 Barlow Moor Road down Maitland Avenue. Go through the gates at the bottom on Maitland Avenue into the car park. Sat Nav M21 7WH

Toilets are available at the car park. Lots of free parking space.  Alternatively you can park on Maitland Avenue

Walk Description:

You may join this walk without the Power of Poles training, I will teach you the technique during the walk.

 

Referral Walk

A comfortably paced walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, the qualified Exercise Referral Instructor will lead you through a warm up, a short walk making stops along the way if needed and working on posture. Exercise bands are often used to give the legs a rest if required to work on the upper body. A sociable enjoyable session finishing with a stretch and then if the weather is dry a cuppa in the park.

 

Poles are provided.

A fantastic start to the week! with a Gentle 'Walk in the woods', walk yourself fitter while refeshing your mind at the same time. These walks use poles to improve general fitness and increase joint mobility.

GENTLE pace: 4 km/2 miles p/hr

TERRAIN: Woodland paths with some gentle hills
