Join our Guided Nordic Walk around the ancient Forest. Walks are led by our team of experienced Forestry England Volunteers. Our walks are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, who have completed a NWUK Learn to Walk Course and are comfortable walking for the full 90 minutes.
All our walks will be conducted in line with government COVID guidelines, and we ask that you also comply with these.
If you are displaying any symptoms, please stay at home. All booked walks can be refunded.

The POWER OF THE POLES Induction process is suitable for all levels and is a structured teaching programme.
This is a level 2 course which will build upon your existing Nordic Walking skills.
We'll start by assessing your current technique and helping you to refine and improve, before moving on to learning advanced techniques that will help you benefit even more from Nordic Walking.
At the end of this session, you will have have a practical understanding of more advanced techniques including use of gears 3 & 4.
Please let your instructor know before the session if you would like to borrow poles.
Meet at the far end of the main car park.
There are toilets and a cafe at the visitors centre.

Come, spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning exploring interesting circular walks, up hill and down dale, in the Chilterns and South Bucks areas. With a wide variety of venues and terrain to chose from you are sure to discover a few favourites. The walk will change each week, and where practical will finish somewhere with refreshments and facilities.
Enjoy sociable Nordic Walking with your fellow experienced Freedom Passport holders in a variety of locations with a mixed ability group.
Lead by accredited instructors or leaders, these walks make the most of our beautiful countryside and are a relaxing way to enjoy being active outdoors, at the same time as improving your fitness and wellbeing.
We aim for a steady pace rather than a race. We'll aim for each walk to be about 2 hours duration.

Come along and join me for a lovely Saturday stomp around Watchet. We meet at the memorial ground and then head out towards the Coastguard Lookout then continue onto the beautiful Harbour. This is a lovely circular walk with a few short steep inclines. There will be opportunities for those who wish to practice their gears.
There is free parking at the youth club and we meet by the bench at the end of the football pitch. There are no facilities here but toilets are in Watchet and plenty of choice for a well earned cup of coffee afterwards. This is a mixted terrain walk so please wear suitable footware.

A stunning walk with views over to Portland and Weymouth bay, in the other direction to Bat's Hole.
Bring a snack and drink to have a quick pitstop on the point looking towards Bat's Hole before turning back over the top.
It is undulating paths and some narrow areas near to the cliff edge along the South West Coast Path with a couple of steeper sections that can be taken in your own time.
Bring a drink and some food for the end where we can sit and enjoy the view over to portland.
The pace is set at an easy level and distance is just under 4 miles.
Toilets, you will need to drop down to the beach. If you walked, it is a steep drop down and back up again.

This is a moderate to fast paced walk allowing you to challenge yourself at your own fitness level. It takes in historic Woolton Woods and Camp Hill with stunning views across to North Wales. After a warm up and technique practise, we will concentrate on hill technique. The aim of this session is to have an exhilarating workout which will leave you feeling positive and enlivened.

The Saturday Strider is led this week by NWUK Walk Leader Sue Kelly and is an easy/moderate pace 2-3 mile, 1 hour walk. Get some great Nordic Walking exercise, fresh air and chat! They are great walks to attend to build your fitness especially if you`d like to progress onto the faster paced or longer walks.
Meeting point - We meet outside the cafe at the Clifton Country Park Visitor Centre Car Park. (Sat Nav: M27 6NG). Plenty of free parking. Easily reached via exit 16 off the M60 or exit 2 off the M61, then along the A666 and turn down Clifton House Road (follow brown signs). Bus stop: Use the Clifton Cricket Club stop on Manchester Road (Bus numbers 8 and 22). Park is a short walk down Clifton House Road.
Why not come earlier for 10.30 & join in our cafe social between the end of the Early Bird Workout Walk and the start of this session?
Toilet facilities are available at the cafe (along with the usual hot drinks and snacks).

The POWER of THE POLES is a structured programme suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. Come and discover the joys of Nordic Walking and how to turn your walking into total body exercise using strapless poles which will enable you to learn more quickly and easily.
Your NWUK qualified instructor, Susan Spain, will help you understand your current level of fitness and empower you to use poles at an intensity level for the results you want. The session also includes advice on the different types of pole available including traditional strapped Nordic Walking poles.
Currently taught in a small group (max 4 plus instructor), at the end of the 90 minutes you will have a full understanding of how to use poles effectively and at a level where you can then join our Parks and Pathways regular walks and classes, sign up to other NWUK or WALX classes or simply get more out of walking in your own time.
The session price of £15 also includes your first walk with the group once you've completed your induction session. Your instructor will give you advice on which regular sessions are best suited to you.
There will also be an option to sign up to a second Power of the Poles 2 - 90 minute course - at a later date to discover more advanced Nordic Walking technique using strapped poles if you so wish subject to Covid-19 protocols.
