Free WALX of Wellbeing – Foots Cray Meadows

 

Short description

WALX of Wellbeing are free walks led by qualified volunteer walk leaders, previously known as Walking for Health Walks these are a great way to get outdoors, enjoy the green spaces and make new friends.  Please book your session prior to walking, don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any help.

Meeting Day and Time: Tuesday 10.00am

Meeting Point: The White Cross Inn, 146 North Cray Road, Sidcup DA14 5EL

Description of the Walk: Meeting just in the car park of the White Cross Inn, the WALX Guide will take you through the woodland and green spaces to the Five Arches, here there will be a stop to admire the bridge, the walk back will be on the opposite side over the green, crossing the penny farthing bridge to return back to the pub. The walk can be very muddy when wet but a footpath route is available for the winter months. Approximately 1.5-2 miles.

Walk Description:

A gentle safe way to walk yourself fitter! This is a gentle session which will challenge your flexibility, joint mobility, balance and strength whilst using poles to improve general fitness. Exercises are incorporated within the walk. This session is suitable for those who want to build up to the longer or more vigorous walks or may have concerns about their health. Many of our members are seeing the benefits of participating in the wellness sessions. 

Results have included a reduction in blood pressure, improvements in breathing, better balance and a general feeling of wellbeing. We have a lot of fun as we exercise in the fresh air. This is a very social session and we often stay behind for tea, coffee and putting the world to rights in the tearooms. 

You do not have to have a passport to join wellbeing classes. Be good to yourself and book now!

 These walks take you any where and everywhere. The main focus of these walks are to explore the area, including open countryside, Nature Reserves, Canals and Parks and Gardens .

Depending on the route will depend on the terrain we will be walking over,  which may include some styles and rough ground 

The walks will vary each week and are lead either by an instructor or a walk leader.

Please be aware on this walk as it goes through some woodland the terrain in places can be quite narrow and the path in places  has exposed roots making it tricky in places

Walk Description:

This is a wonderful way to watch the sun set on a summers evening.

All the postures are standing with the use of poles to help you balance and achieve the poses. 

You do not need any Yoga experience to enjoy this session. 

We include adapted yoga poses, mindfulness and breathing exercises. 

This session is the perfect way to slow down at the end of the day.
