Walk Description:

Rose Hill Marple Nordic Walks

Come along and join us on a friendly Nordic Walk starting at The Railway Pub near Rose Hill Station Marple, there are different circular routes around the area, using a mixture of streets, canals, parks, woodland, riverside paths, and bridlepaths.

The walk includes a short mobilisation of joints prior to walking and a cool down stretch at the end. 

The walks are advertised at 90mins but they may take a little longer than that, due to terrain, and other factors.

Time 9:30-11:00

Gears 1 and maybe 2 with some hills.

It’s magical to walk here as this was the site of the Roman town Venta Icenorum ‘Market Place of the Iceni’ and predecessor of the county city of Norwich! 

We will vary our routes each week, choosing either High Ash Farm trails or come across to explore the Roman Town and / or soak up the views from the ’twin peaks’. So many options…

Short description

Description of the Walk: Meeting just in the car park of the White Cross Inn, the WALX Guide will take you through the woodland and green spaces to the Five Arches, here there will be a stop to admire the bridge, the walk back will be on the opposite side over the green, crossing the penny farthing bridge to return back to the pub. The walk can be very muddy when wet but a footpath route is available for the winter months. Approximately 1.5-2 miles.

Walk Description:

MIKE`S LONGER 2-3 HOUR TUESDAY ADVENTURE WALK (meet at 10.20am for a prompt 10.30am start time) - Led by Parks and Pathways Walk Leader Mike Podmore. It will be a moderate pace 2 -3 hour walk of around 5 to 8 miles from different locations taking place  at least twice a month when Mike is available. 

THIS WEEK - Over Peover from Ye Olde Parkgate Inn, Over Peover, Knutsford. This walk is just under 6 miles and follows good surfaces throughout the walk. There are 5 stiles to cross. Leaving the Pub to walk through the village of Over Peover we then pass through the Peover Estate with the lakes, Peover Hall and St Lawrence’s Church. Following a wooded path to Radbroke Hall (which is now Barclays Technology Centre) and the Whipping Stocks pub further tracks eventually lead us to Oakfield Manor Estates which is owned by the Stobart family & the Cheshire Polo Club back to our start. Public toilets may be available at the pub at the start and finish of the walk otherwise there are plenty of places for a 'Wild' on route. After the walk, there is the option of a brew or a spot of lunch at Ye Olde Parkgate Inn. Let Mike know if you want to stay for lunch when you book the walk.

Meeting point – Meet in the Car Park at Ye Olde Parkgate Inn (Stocks Lane, Over Peover, Knutsford WA16 8TU). From the M60, leave at junction 3 & take the A34 exit to Cheadle/Wilmslow. Follow the A34 for about 8 miles and at the Whitehall Bridge Roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Alderley Road/B5359. Continue to follow B5359. Slight right onto Ryleys Lane/B5359 for 3.5 miles. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto Knutsford Road/A537. After just under a mile, turn left onto Pepper Street. Continue onto Chelford Lane. Turn right onto Stocks Lane. Destination will be on the right.

The walk will be designed for all levels from rehabilitation to advanced Nordic Walkers - the beauty of green spaces.

 

We will leave the car park and have a short walk through the pathways to lead us to Worcestor park where we can either take a walk around the path or on to the green and bring in the hills to the workout. Walk Description:

A Woodland Adventure Walk, Secret and secluded Hidden Woods, right on our doorstep if you know where to look.  Note - there may be an  easy wall to climb over on this walk though an alternative can be found. Significant Forest Bathing opportunities here.  Another delightful circular walk woodland and meadow we may spot deer in the woods.

 This walk is fairly flat but undulating and very rooty, can be slippery and quite a few fallen trees to negotiate but nothing too difficult. A couple of small stiles to climb over. May be cows in the field but can always find alternative route should anyone be nervous of cows. Meet at the Golf Club Carpark - A large car park is available here which is free of charge. We are invited to use the Golf Club for refreshments afterwards. Toilets are available here. The club just asks us to remove outdoor cloth

Walk Description:

In this session we work on helping you to get strong legs, upper body strength, ankle strength, hip stability, balaance, agility all whilst having a great laugh.

You will be working hard but at appropriate level for your ability.

Everyone is supportive and youwill be made very welcome.

YOU DO NOT NEED POLES IF YOU ARE NOT A NORDIC WALKER.

You will part your car at the Ewe and Lamb then make your way over to the field opposite The Hanbury Turn Pub.

Please be at the field by 9.25am ready for the warm up.

ONLINE CLASSES

For online classes you must ensure that you have a clear area to train (Approx 2m Square).

You must dress appropriately for the session.

You must ensure that your emergency contact details are up to date in your profile. 

You will need a mat for floor exercises, a tea towel for strength exercises and a place where you can do press ups such as a kitchen work surface.  If you have access to a fitness band that would be useful too.

If the class is billed as a Gymstick/Pro X Walker/Isobow owners class you MUST have these items.

INDOOR CLASSES 

Bring a mat and clothing suitable for indoor fitness.

OUTDOOR CLASSES

Short description

WALX of Wellbeing are free walks led by qualified volunteer walk leaders, previously known as Walking for Health Walks these are a great way to get outdoors, enjoy the green spaces and make new friends.

 Stunning scenery, historical connections, gorgeous architecture, well manicured gardens, a sense of timelessness… and wide shady paths all across the estate to enjoy brisk Nordic Walking.  Plus a well deserved coffee and scone at the end in the Muddy Boots Cafe - what could be better?

This is a 4.5 mile brisk walk (average steady pace 3.5mph) suitable for all Gear 2-3 abilities as there are opportunities for those who want a challenge to get up to Gear 3  and add in extra distance if they choose!  It is a 75 - 90 minute walk on footpaths through fields and woodland through Blickling Hall Estate.

Walk Description:

A comfortably paced walk for you to enjoy in a social atmosphere, the qualified Exercise Referral Instructor will lead you through a warm up, a short walk making stops along the way if needed and working on posture.

Exercise bands are often used to give the legs a rest if required to work on the upper body. A sociable enjoyable session finishing with a stretch and then if the weather is dry a cuppa in the park.

 

Poles are provided.
