Pace one
A 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. On Monday these walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.
Starting in April 2025 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

Walk Description:
Starting beside the Victoria Pub, we’ll quickly leave the road behind and head into the peaceful woodland.
The walk begins with a steady climb to get the heart and lungs working. As we gain height, the trees occasionally open up to give us lovely glimpses across the surrounding countryside. Partway through the walk, our route links with the Compton Walk.
Once the initial climb is behind us, the terrain becomes gentler and we can enjoy the woodland, fresh air and varied birdlife.
Different walking speeds can be accommodated while keeping the group together.
Allow approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on the pace of the group and stops along the way.
Please wear sturdy footwear with good grip. Tree roots and some of the inclines can become slippery after rain.
A lovely woodland walk with a good climb to start, followed by gentler walking and plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings.
