Great for improving your range of movement, strength and flexibility and improving your sense of wellness. At the end of the session we practise some mindfulness and breathing techniques which has been shown to help lift mood and reduce anxiety.

These sessions deliver  exercises to improve mobility, strength, balance and coordination. Your overall fitness including your cardio output will improve, It is a whole body workout helping you feel more energised, Using smoveys will support your upper body and core strength and increase your heartrate.

As we work in a group everyone can work within their limits.  There will be plenty of opportunity to rest and all the exercises are differentiated to suit you. We use out poles to improve our core strength, balance and upper body range of movement.

We are excited to welcome newcomers to WALX  and the use of poles to exercise the whole body while walking.

In this 90 mins session, your qualified instructor will help you understand your current level of fitness and empower you to use poles at the correct intensity in order to get the results you want.

At the end of this session you will have a full understanding of using poles correctly and will be at a level where you will be issued with the WALX  Freedom Passport. allowing you to join our walks and classes along with other WALX and Nordic Walking UK groups around the UK.

We can guide you towards the right walk or class to help you get started and advise you on choosing the right poles for you.

This delightful walk takes the footpath west out of the village, crosses an old toll bridge, across fields and along a disused railway line, takes in the very picturesque old packhorse bridge, then back along bridleways and riverside footpath to Birstwith. At about 3.3 miles, the walk takes just over 90 minutes.

NOTE THIS IS NOT A WALK , THIS IS 'NORDIC STRENGTH',

a strength & conditioning session, designed to improve our overall body strength, core strength, mobility, flexibility and balance. The session comprises:- A short dynamic warm up to get us ready for the exercises to follow; A main section targetting key muscle groups to support and enhance our longer term Walking capabilities; and A controlled cool down, to enhance recovery. The session focuses on quality posture and range of motion. We will not be lifting any weights just working within our own capabilities and against gravity : )

Suitable for all ages and abilities. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a drink and an exercise mat.

 NOTE: There will need to be a minimum of 4 people attending for the session to take place.
