Walk Description:

Pace one

A 2k to 3k gentle WALX that incorporates balance work, flexibility and strength exercises and maybe a bit of yoga or relaxation too. On Monday these walks take place around Stanmore and Harrow Weald on mainly flat terrain but we do go on trails through the woods so that we can enjoy the changes in nature throughout the year. This is a very friendly group and we are always ready to welcome new walkers who want to get back into exercise in a safe and gradual way.

Starting in April 2025 there is also the option to sign up for the 6 week Total Body Walking Programme in the beautiful Canons Park in Stanmore which is being supported by TfL and Friends of Canons Park. This programme runs on Tuesdays and Sundays at 11am.

Join us for a walk around the park.

Nordic Walking uses poles in order to add two major benefits to walking:The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs The poles help to propel the walker along – this means he/she works harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!

It can be done by anybody, anywhere.  Poles are provided.  Ensure that you wear suitable footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather.

Walk Description:

A Nordic Walking Group for Members of Worcestershire Breat Unit Haven.

Nordic walking is the most perfect form of whole body exercise because it is gentle yet effective. It is easily accessible and a low cost way to exercise while enjoying the great outdoors.

The use of poles helps target the muscles that are often affected by breast surgery and the rhythmic action of the arms and the shoulders aids both lymphoedema and mobilisation.

Use Nordic walking to turn your walk into a workout! With Nordic walking the poles are used to propel the body forward allowing you to walk faster and stronger.
